In 2013, AngloGold Ashanti and Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Co. have donated the gold for the restoration of the Capitol Dome in Denver, Colorado.
In March of the same year, 65 ounces of 24Kt gold landed in Florence destination Giusto Manetti Battiloro so that they were refined and turned into gold leaf 24 kt. Petterson, AngloGold Ashanti Manager has been personally involved to monitor the gold in all stages of processing.
The gold leaf 24 kt made by Manetti represented the final touch to a three-year restoration project to repair the dome and lantern of the Capitol, damaged by years of water infiltration.
Even Gov. John Hickenlooper has actively participated in the ceremony of the leaves, being able to touch the contents of the boxes.
The gold leaf 24 kt was applied by hand leaf after leaf in about three months; The end result was received with great enthusiasm by the public, the architect Larry Friedberg and the Governor John Hickenlooper.
