REMO SALVADORI: GOLD, SHAPES AND MATERIAL. 2017-2018 BIENNIAL

THE ARTIST REMO SALVADORI CONTINUES TO RECOUNT THE SHEER UNIQUENESS WHICH DISTINGUISHES HIS ARTISTIC SKILLS

The exhibition of works by Remo Salvadori has recently come to a close at Building, the new Brera-based art exhibition venue right in the heart of Milan’s historic centre. The exhibition “Continuo Infinito Presente” (continuous infinite present) occupied four out the building’s six floors and was homogeneously developed to create a visual path of symbiosis between space, works and perceptive harmony.

The exhibition name is a reflection of Remo Salvadori’s artistic story. “Continuo Infinito Presente” has been a palpable theme in the artist’s works since 1973, indeed it could be said that this is when he first started researching a continuum between shape and material, time and space, lightness and weight, action and observation. Over time this research has transformed into awareness, experimentation has culminated in beauty. Therefore Remo Salvadori has achieved a new, changeable and alchemical artistic elevation, both static and dynamic at the same time. Developed in an infinite array of variations, like a flow of conscience, the exhibition features works which are veritable emblems of laic sacrality. Another cycle of the artist’s works has been presented in Milan, at the Christian Stein Gallery in Pero, his historic reference point. These are characterised by the fusion of elements like water and colour, with seven elements: lead, tin, iron, copper, mercury, silver and gold. Works oscillate between basic chemistry and complex alchemy, in forms which evolve according to a slow and aware maturation process.1

in both these latest Milanese exhibitions held in 2017 and 2018, we would like to thank Antonio Spinelli for the presence in works of gold provided by Giusto Manetti Battiloro and for the installation of “Tavolo d’angolo” at Building.

Remo Salvadori has exhibited his works at important Italian and European museums over the last few decades. In 2018 he held a large personal exhibition at Stiftung Insel Hombroich, Neuss, where he established a connection between three buildings, two designed by the sculptor Erwin Heerich and the remaining one by Alviro Siza, enabling mutual exchange processes between architecture and art. Salvadori has participated at major international events including the Venice Biennale in 1982, 1986, 1993; Documenta, Kassel, in 1982 and 1992.
