Synthetic protection
Synthetic protection is a glossy protective varnish used to protect gold and silver leaf and as an anti-oxidant for silver.
DETAILSThe type of protection you use will vary depending on the material of which the surface is made (wood, plastic, glass, metal, etc…), the environment in which the gilding is carried out (internal or external) and the metal used (precious metal leaf or imitation metal leaf). Select the ideal product among synthetic protections, acrylic protections and shellac (used in the gilding sector for polishing the gold leaf, as a light surface protection and as a sealant for porous surfaces before oil gilding).

DETAILSAcrylic topcoat for the protection of both precious and imitation metal leaf gilding. It gives the gilded surface a gloss finish.
DETAILSShellac is used both to insulate porous surfaces prior to size application and to polish and subtly protect finished gold leaf. As compared to ordinary shellac, dewaxed shellac produces a more transparent and virtually colourless result once applied and dried.
DETAILSShellac in ready-to-use solution recommended to subtly protect and polish leaf gilding, both precious metal and imitation. Once dry it enhances surface warmth subtly.
DETAILSNatural resin in ready-to-use solution recommended to subtly protect and polish leaf gilding, both precious metal and imitation. Extra-pale dewaxed shellac in solution is more transparent and less amber-coloured than classic dewaxed shellac, enabling gold leaf to be protected without altering its surface colour. Ideal for silver surface finishes and more generally for finishes not requiring a warmer than natural colour.

DETAILSShellac in ready-to-use solution recommended to give shine and light protection to gilding, both precious metal and imitation. Once dry it gives a warm tone to the surface, a grade browner compared with dewaxed shellac.
