Clay and pigments powder mixture

Use method

Clay powder to be mixed with water (2 parts water to 3 parts bole) for preparing a clay-based ground to be used in water gilding on wooden supports primed with gesso. After the first mixing, wait 30–45 minutes, then mix again: the mixture will be ready for use with a binding agent, such as a common bole paste.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, sealed in its container and away from direct sources of light and heat. The suitable environment should have temperatures between 15 and 25 °C and a relative humidity not exceeding 50%.
